It does get better.

I'm feeling decidedly better. No yelling at innocent voter registration volunteers. I had some zappy moments today and a minor breakdown, with screaming, when my dog peed on the couch and a freshly-washed blanket today--but aside from that, much better.
I even did some drinkin' last night; an activity which was seriously curtailed while I was taking Effexor, since more than about two drinks would almost put me straight to sleep. I had four drinks, which of course made me a bit tipsy; but aside from that, I was fine. I'm definitely not saying drinking was a great idea--but my (lack of) physical reaction to it is sort of a weird benchmark for my progress.
I'm also appreciating the semicolon today; a type of punctuation that, if you're prone to run-on-ish sentences like me, can really come in handy.

Thank God you're telling us that it gets better. My friends have been great as I have not been afraid to share my experiences....I have to say that the friends have helped alot. I told my friends on Paxil to get the right info before tapering down. I'm feeling better but I don't know if it's the ONE CAP of 10mg Prozac or just time. I'm listeneing to TV about Reagan's passing and am thankful I've got my faculties. I know how much we complain about this awful drug but it was in service to having us have better lives...maybe I learned that we are never as alone as we think we are. Good luck to us all.

Hello there
I have been off my effexor now for 7-1/2 days and I am finally starting to feel like myself again. I tappered down to 37.5 every 2 days, then stretched it to 55 hrs and then quit. I never imagined I could cry so much and for NO reason.
I started taking GNC cleansing formula and Vitman B 100 mg complex, lots of water and walking when I could. Mind you, the vertigo was so bad on day 4 that all I could do was sleep. I believe I am on the downside now. Thank God.
For any who are about to or have stopped, grit our teeth, tell people and hang in there it does get better.

Glad you are feeling better; hang in there, it does get better.
I'm feeling pretty good these days. Had a little relapse last week, but I know why and just worked through it.

I ALSO HAVE WHAT I CALL MINIIATURE NERVOUS BREAKDOWNS FOLLOWED BY HYSTERIA. I'M GLAD TO KNOW THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO UNDERSTAND. I CAN'T QUIT CUSSING PEOPLE, BECAUSE I'M SO ANGRY ABOUT WHAT THIS MEDICINE HAS DONE TO ME.

I'm actually afraid to mention this in my workplace and co-workers because of my relative certainty that it wouldn't be understood--and these people are all therapists (like myself). But I have gotten a few comments about how I'm getting more sarcastic and hyperfocused. How to say, "Oh it's just the withdrawal--that'll be over in 6 months or so..." and not wonder if you'll keep your job?

I feel better after a month of being off... actually noticed withdrawal symptoms significantly decreased after about 2 weeks. Hang in there. I took effexor for 2 years, at times as much as 225 mg/day. Drink a lot of water, and try to eat really well (healthy). I hope you feel better soon.
